ABOUT ME
Hello and a warm welcome to Our Therapy Space.
My name is Nicola (she/her) and I am a fully qualified and accredited counsellor and breathwork coach. I support individuals and families to explore past and current unmet needs in order to move forwards and make positive changes. I work holistically and adopt a bio-psycho-social approach, recognising and honouring the ways in which different aspects of identity intersect.
My core training is in Person-Centred Therapy. This means that no matter who you are or what you have done, I work from a place of acceptance. I believe that in order to feel safe enough to try out a new way of being, a person needs to feel accepted in their current state. I will never ask 'what's wrong' but I will ask 'what happened '. Over the years, I have developed a pluralistic approach. This means that as therapy progresses, I may draw on other therapeutic modalities I have experience in, such as Cognitive-Behavioural therapy, in order to best meet your needs.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means I have undergone extensive training and assessment in order to be recognised as a knowledgeable and experienced practitioner. I am registered with the ICO, enhanced DBS checked and fully insured. I am a student member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) .
Please note I do not offer a crisis service. If you need help immediately, please click the button below for signposting to other sources of support.

Experience and Qualifications

For the last 2 years I have worked as an Oncology Counsellor within the NHS, providing support for individuals and their loved ones as they navigate a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Prior to this, I provided counselling for adults and children who experienced domestic abuse (as part of a service funded by Warwickshire County Council) and I also worked within the third sector providing counselling specifically for parents and caregivers.
Before taking the decision to train as a counsellor, I was a Commissioned Officer in HM Armed Forces. During my career I trained as both a Pilot and Air Traffic Controller culminating in working as a Leadership Training Instructor where I undertook coaching qualifications in coaching management and leadership. I am subsequently comfortable integrating coaching into our sessions if this is of interest.
Alongside my counselling diploma, I have a first-class honours degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Professional Writing. I am interested in how writing and story telling can be used effectively within a therapeutic setting and I encourage creativity in any form as part of the therapeutic process.
I am currently training as a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and will be able to offer this highly specialist type of psychotherapy from January 2026.
Please contact me using the form below if you would like to find out more.
